The final Sunday April 15 2018 for the team in Ghana was a busy day. Mercer preached on the resurrection and the stages of future resurrection. Megan taught the Sunday school class, and Michael taught the teen class with the help of Stephen. Pam and Jewel gave an important lesson to the ladies and teen girls of the assembly about personal hygiene and disease prevention, which went over very well. The team was acknowledged and thanked individually by the elders of the church, with each one getting a small gift to remind them on their time in Ghana.
Following the meetings and once everyone hugged and said their goodbyes, the Canadians all piled into the van to head to Accra to the airport. The long journey took us through a torrential downpour, which made all the luggage rather wet, as it was stowed on the roof carriers. We made it to the airport just in time for their check in, and a dinner before boarding their plane later in the evening. My wife and I stayed an extra night in Accra to see Jesse off, as his departure was delayed until Monday evening. Jesse was not feeling well all Sunday and Monday, so we pray that he will be feeling better now that he has landed back in Canada.
This years’ team was a unique blend of younger and older believers, Ghanaian and Canadian, and some with much experience and some with very little experience in the Lord’s service. Though we had such variety, we all came together in a beautiful bond of unity and love to serve our Lord in the gospel. Many thousands heard the gospel, or received tracts, and now we are seeing some encouraging results from our labors. We have more contacts to follow up on, some new Emmaus students, and at least one visitor to the church this past Sunday. We would love to see immediate results, but we must leave that to our Lord and trust that we are storing up some more treasures in heaven as we faithfully serve Him in the gospel.
Thank you to to all who contributed through prayer. We shall enjoy the reward of our labors in a coming day!
