Due the COVID-19 outbreak not only in Canada and the USA but also Ghana, and current travel restrictions, the Ghana eTeam has been cancelled. We will not be rescheduling a team at this time nor in the foreseeable future.
While COVID-19 is affecting Ireland as well, since that team isn’t scheduled to travel until the end of June, we are postponing a decision until April 30th. If travel restrictions ease, and the health and safety circumstances dramatically improve, we will likely have an eTeam in Ireland from June 26-July 13. There will still be time for flights to be booked and other necessary arrangements to be made. In the meanwhile, eTeam members and our Irish hosts will continue to prepare for the outreach. Those interested in joining the Ireland team can still apply.
Please contact Ron Hampton with any questions.
17-Day Team: May 15th to June 1st
eTeams Ghana is a short-term missions opportunity to witness and work for the Lord in Ghana, West Africa. It is a cross-cultural missions opportunity that does not require learning another language. After cultural orientation and evangelism training, the team joins in a concentrated program of evangelism, ministering along side Ghanaian believers from the Believers Bible Assembly located in Kumasi.
The Purpose
Glorifying God through enabling & equipping Christians to effectively work in a cross culture environment, encourage the church, and evangelize. Our Goal is to bring glory to God, and we believe this will happen through the following:
Team members grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ by:
- Trusting in the Lord to provide for all their needs.
- Discipleship and daily team Bible studies.
- Living and working closely with other team members and national Ghanaian believers.
Team members will be used of the Lord to help build up the local assembly by:
- Fellowship with Ghanaian believers, encouraging them in their own walk and witness.
- Participating with the host assembly in its’ various teaching and evangelism ministries.
- Sharing the Gospel to Ghanaian people to see them saved, baptized, added to the assembly.
Team members become more effective in their witness for Christ by:
- Being taught the message of the Gospel.
- Being trained in various methods of evangelism.
- Gaining experience through participation in evangelism.
These Short Term Missions aim at producing Long Term Results for the work and witness in Ghana, while also encouraging spiritual growth in personal character and ministry for service in local churches back home.
The Program
Missionary Orientation and Training
Team members arrive in Ghana Africa on Friday, May 15th. The team will then spend the next two days in cross-cultural missionary orientation and evangelism training which will include:
- Ghanaian culture, history and geography.
- Basic Ghanaian beliefs and how to share the gospel effectively.
- the Gospel and various methods of evangelism.
- Learning to share your testimony.
- Sketch-board training and other evangelism tools.
Evangelism and Discipleship
Following orientation & training, an intensive program of evangelism will begin. Sundays will be spent involved with the host assembly. Mondays to Saturdays the team will start each day with personal quiet time, a team Bible study, prayer time, followed by our daily evangelism program. The methods of evangelism may include door to door, literature, open air, school programs, and personal evangelism. Each morning we visit schools to present an evangelism program, then in the afternoon we share gospel literature in strategically targeted locations. Each evening involves a gospel movie presentation, coupled with personal testimonies and preaching. Each team member will be expected to participate in the various evangelism programs, and contribute to various house chores for the team.
Team Touring & Sight-Seeing
A two day trip to Cape Coast will allow team members to experience Ghana’s beautiful coastline, while also visiting a 500 year old slave castle. Tract distribution and evangelism will also be part of this trip to the coast.
How Much Will It Cost?
Each team member is responsible for raising sufficient funds to cover their share of the team costs. This amount will cover all aspects of the team program including the orientation & training, lodging expenses, meals, team transportation, sight-seeing, ministry and gospel materials, as well as a team shirt. Sometimes after all other expenses have been paid, there may remain some balance in the mission team account. These funds are generally used to support the missionary team leader flight expenses, and/or gifts to help the local missionaries. While each team member is responsible to pay for their own airfare to and from Accra, Ghana the Team Cost includes the $200 cost of return flights Accra-Kumasi which eTeams will book.
Team Cost: 1495 CAD or 1150 USD (includes Accra-Kumasi return flights)
The cost per person does not include travel costs to and from Accra, Ghana, and other personal expenses such as: health insurance, personal sight-seeing, souvenirs, gifts, personal items i.e. toiletries, clothes, stationary and postage, etc.
Payment & other necessary information: Once your application has been approved, we will send you our Travel, Orientation & Training Information.
eTeams can also help you with advice and the booking of your airfare. See contact information below for help arranging flights.
Is This for Me?
It is if you are 18 or older (even much older); in good health and able to keep up to the strenuous program of discipleship and evangelism; able to live at close quarters with others and esteem others more than yourself; willing to take the place of a servant and a learner and accept leadership; someone whom your elders will recommend for this short-term missionary work.
It is if you want to experience God working in and through your life. You will be exposed to a mission field that qualifies in every sense of the word, yet one where you can communicate the Gospel in your own language. You can be useful and effective even in the short-term.
It is if you want to work in fellowship with other Christians from around the world and to enjoy the experience of trusting God together; to experience the encouragement and support of a team; to have friendships develop that will last for eternity.
It is if you are willing to respond to Christ’s call to go into all the world with the Gospel and to give up those things necessary to share His love and salvation with the Ghanaian people.
What Now?
After prayerfully reading and considering this information if you believe the Lord would have you get involved with eTeams, share this vision with your church elders.
Acts 13:1-4 provides us with a pattern for sending forth missionaries. We see in this passage of scripture how the Holy Spirit identifies individuals for mission work, so that the church understood and willingly commended them to the work. After prayer and consultation with elders, It is important to have confirmation of the local church through its’ leadership. If the call is from the Lord we may trust in our church and its’ leadership to respond in obedience to the Holy Spirit. It is never wise to presume a call without confirmation from our church leadership. It is important to also recognize God’s timing, for while He may call, He might also ask us to wait for the right time.
REMEMBER: your elders (church leaders) want to see you succeed spiritually.
You will need the prayerful support of your elders and home church if you are going to be effective on the mission field. If they agree with your desire to be involved with this short-term missionary experience, complete the application form online at: https://www.eteams.ca/upcoming-trips/, or download it, complete & scan it then return it to us at the email addresses below. We will process your application as quickly as possible.
